  • “Most moral army in the world”
  • “Human shields” - blaming Hamas for civilian casualties
  • “Proportionate response to October 7th attacks”

The Reality

What’s actually happening:

Death toll (as of December 2025):

  • Over 45,000+ Palestinians killed (confirmed)
  • Actual numbers likely much higher - bodies under rubble, unreported deaths
  • 70% of casualties are women and children
  • Entire families erased from existence

Systematic destruction:

  • Hospitals deliberately targeted and destroyed
  • Schools, universities, and cultural sites bombed
  • Refugee camps struck repeatedly
  • Civilian infrastructure decimated
  • 85%+ of Gaza’s population displaced
  • Starvation used as weapon of war
  • Water systems destroyed
  • Medical supplies blocked
  • Humanitarian aid obstructed

Not a war - genocide:

  • Deliberate targeting of civilians
  • Statements by Israeli officials calling for ethnic cleansing
  • “Erase Gaza,” “flatten Gaza,” “no innocent civilians”
  • Blocking of aid = intentional starvation
  • Systematic destruction of life-sustaining infrastructure
  • Collective punishment of entire population

International complicity:

  • USA continues supplying weapons and funding
  • UK, Germany, and other nations provide military support
  • Vetoes of UN Security Council ceasefire resolutions
  • Media framing as “conflict” rather than genocide
  • “Both sides” rhetoric ignoring massive power imbalance

The Pattern

Historical genocides this mirrors:

Bosnia (1990s):

  • Ethnic cleansing justified as “self-defense”
  • Systematic targeting of civilians
  • International community’s delayed response
  • “Safe areas” that weren’t safe

Rwanda (1994):

  • Dehumanizing language (“cockroaches” then, “human animals” now)
  • Systematic slaughter of civilian population
  • International inaction despite clear warning signs

Native American genocide:

  • Displacement from ancestral lands
  • Systematic destruction of culture
  • Starvation and disease as weapons
  • “Manifest destiny” / “promised land” justifications

The Holocaust:

  • Ghettoization of population
  • Dehumanizing propaganda
  • “They started it” victim-blaming
  • World turning away from refugees

The playbook:

  1. Dehumanize the target population
  2. Claim self-defense or security necessity
  3. Control the narrative (“most moral army,” “human shields”)
  4. Block outside observers and aid
  5. Systematic destruction while claiming precision
  6. International community offers “both sides” false equivalence
  7. History judges it as genocide, but only after it’s complete

The Numbers Don’t Lie

Power imbalance:

  • Israel: Nuclear weapons, advanced military, US backing, Iron Dome defense
  • Gaza: Blockaded, no army, no air force, no navy, no defense system
  • This isn’t a war. It’s a massacre.

Map tells the story:

  • 1948: Palestine exists
  • 2025: Shrinking fragments of territory
  • “Two-state solution” impossible when one state has been systematically erased

Media Complicity

How the genocide is sanitized:

  • “Conflict” instead of “genocide”
  • “Died” instead of “killed” or “murdered”
  • “Both sides” framing
  • Israeli government statements reported uncritically
  • Palestinian deaths as statistics, Israeli deaths as individuals with names and stories
  • Focus on October 7th while ignoring 75+ years of occupation

What You Can Do

This is happening right now:

  • BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) movement
  • Pressure representatives to stop arms sales
  • Support Palestinian aid organizations
  • Call it what it is: genocide
  • Share Palestinian voices and stories
  • Support journalists documenting the atrocity
  • Remember: “Never again” means never again for anyone

Organizations doing real work:

  • Palestinian Red Crescent
  • Doctors Without Borders (MSF)
  • UNRWA (when Israel allows them to operate)
  • Local Palestinian mutual aid networks

Why This Is In This Museum

Because calling out genocide isn’t antisemitism. Criticizing the Israeli government’s actions isn’t hatred of Jewish people. Many Jews around the world oppose this genocide.

The lesson of the Holocaust was supposed to be “never again” - not “never again to us, but fine for others.”

When a government:

  • Dehumanizes a population
  • Uses collective punishment
  • Deliberately targets civilians
  • Uses starvation as a weapon
  • Systematically destroys infrastructure
  • Blocks aid and outside observers
  • Justifies it all as “self-defense”

That’s genocide. And it’s happening right now. And much of the world is either enabling it or looking away.
